Human Therapy
Low Level Laser therapy is used to treat acute and chronic conditions as well as post-activity recovery.
Conditions that benefit from laser therapy:
Acute/sudden injuries such as:
-
Sprained ankle
-
Muscle tear/damage
-
Tendon/ligament damage
-
Sudden back or muscular pain
-
Wounds/cuts
Chronic/long term conditions such as:
-
Arthritis
-
Tennis elbow
-
Plantar Fasciitis
-
Achilles tendonitis
-
Shin splints
-
Sciatic pain
-
Back and neck pain

How does it work?

Low Level Laser therapy is a medical treatment that uses focused light to stimulate a process called photobiomodulation (PBM). During PBM, photons enter the tissue and interact with the cytochrome c complex within mitochondria.
This interaction triggers a biological cascade of events that leads to an increase in cellular metabolism, decrease in pain, and improved microcirculation to injured tissue.
I use a Class IV Low Level Laser therapy machine which provides more energy to deep structures in less time than other laser machines. This ultimately assists in providing an energy dose that results in faster treatment times and quicker results.
How is the Laser Therapy applied?
The Class IV Low Level Laser therapy machine produces photons or packages of light which travel along a fibre-optic cable into a hand piece. The roller ball hand piece is gently moved over the area to be treated and the laser light is absorbed by the damaged cells. The amount of energy required is calculated to give the correct depth of light penetration based on the condition being treated.
Treatments vary from 5 – 20 minutes depending on the condition and area treated. Treatment plans also vary depending on the condition being treated but usually begin with a course of 5 sessions over a two-week period.
